Taking Arcimboldo as a starting point, Jonathan Ehrenberg and Meredith James’ current project (a work in progress) features metamorphosizing figures made of fruits, vegetables and natural elements. The video is filmed using an optical trick called Pepper’s Ghost, in which an image reflected in glass is overlaid on an image seen through the glass. The video feels suspended in a transitional space between concrete and reflected mages.
